Lisa Rudd's arts background is interesting and varied. Lisa started in the acting industry and was a member of the Victorian Youth Theatre Association and has taught drama and movement to young people and worked on school musicals with students and teachers.

Lisa has worked with ceramics since the 1980s when she owed and operated Australian Country Ceramics. Initially Lisa focused on slip cast work but now creates hand formed clay artworks and specialises in large scale clay murals.  Lisa is currently experimenting with the ancient clay firing technique known as Raku; her work is heavily influenced by the “art forms” created by the fires during the events of Black Saturday.

Photography is another passion of Lisa’s and she has freelanced as a photographer for rural newspapers and community organisations. Lisa is seeking to expand and include her photographs in her ceramic artworks and is designing and producing a range of original, custom made, decals.

Lisa Rudd has spent the past 20 years engaged in public and community art projects.

2014

· Four month placement as community arts worker at C’MONA at MONA (Museum of Old and New Art).

· Curator of FlyMania: a fun, slightly silly, online art competition: www.facebook.com/flymania2014

· Convener & concept development of Puppet Productions.

· 2013 to 2014 Vice President of the Greater Green Ponds Branch of Tasmanian Regional Arts.

· Member of the Southern Midlands Arts Advisory Committee.

· Establishing a community arts space at St Ann’s (formerly known as The Chapel of Ease on Constitution Hill) an 1867 sandstone church located in Dysart Cemetery, Tasmania.

· Clay workshops and Raku firing demonstration at community art event - A Kempton Affair, Tasmania.

· SEA ROPES:  Schools Education Arts & Aquaculture - Rubbish Opening Pathways to Employment & Study. Collecting rope & other rubbish washed up on Tasmanian beaches and utilising the rope to create artworks and functional items that generate conversations regarding the impact of sea debris on the environment. SEA ROPES is supporting 24 Carrot Gardens - a MONA initiative.

2013

· GREAT Spaces: Graffiti Removal Education and the Arts Together - commissioned to create large scale clay murals and painted murals in the Brighton municipality, Tasmania.

· Selected to be a member of the Southern Midlands Arts Advisory Committee.

· Callington Mill - Big Draw clay mural approved for installation in Oatlands, Tasmania.

2012

· 2011 to 2012 - worked with the residents of the Pontville Immigration Detention Centre to create a clay mural that is now a feature artwork in the front entrance of the Bridgewater LINC. 

· Artist for Community Blitz; large scale painted mural installations in the Brighton municipality.

· Worked with students from the Jordan River Learning Federation - “Quirky Birds” - clay mural installation.

· Member of the Southern Midlands Council Arts Strategy Development Group.  Assisted with a community arts forum and created a short film on their behalf.

2011

· Exhibited at Floral Fantasy; 24T and Saddlers Court Gallery, Richmond.

· Conducted youth art activities at Kempton Spring Festival.

· Worked with the Youth of Campania  to create large scale painted murals to celebrate National Youth Week.

· Selected artist for the Collabor-Art Project - Youth Network of Tasmania.

· Participant at the international Reedy Marsh Workshop, Woodfired Tasmania  Conference.

· Invited to join dot (Designed Objects Tasmania) Think Tank - an arts and design ideas incubator. 

2010

· Became an inaugural committee member of the Greater Hobart Branch of Tasmanian Regional Arts (TRA) & joined the Greater Green Ponds Branch of TRA. 

· Created the short film Fire Forest, that captured the fragile beauty and strength of nature as it sought to regenerate after the devastating Black Saturday Bushfires.  This film was selected to feature on the Big Screen at Federation Square, Melbourne, as part of the state wide Emergence exhibition.

· Oatlands Festival art project - worked with the community to create a clay mural that celebrated the return of movement and energy to the Callington Flour Mill.

· Mentor artist at the Hobart Big Draw event - Henry Jones Art Hotel.

· Joined the Tasmanian Ceramics Association.

2009

· Convened and presented at Meet, Meld, Merge II - a forum that brought together artists, arts workers and art agencies after the Black Saturday Bushfires. To explore the ways in which the arts could be utilised as a bushfire recovery tool.

· Exhibited at: Resurrected - an exhibition by and for people affected by the 2009 Bushfires.

· Produced, wrote and narrated a documentary about Toil Art.

· Curator of  a large collection of photographs taken across Victoria during the Bushfires.  Production and narration of the short film I Will Go There With You - a celebration of volunteers and human resilience.

· Project manager for an artists’ retreat for artists & arts workers who were impacted on by the Black Saturday Bushfires.

· Mosaic project focused on the theme of ‘taking small pieces and making them whole again’;a bushfire recovery activity with the students and families from Flowerdale Primary School, Victoria.

2004 to 2008

· Designing artist, project manager and concept development of Toil Art; a large scale community clay mural located at the public toilets in Yea, Victoria.  382 people were directly involved with this project.

· Commissioned to create the Flora Fossil Path that celebrates the rare fossil the Baragwanathia; located at the entrance to the Yea Wetlands.  Worked closely with the Taungurung Clan in creating this artwork.

· Winner of design award Art In Our Environment - Murrindindi Shire Council, Victoria.  Commissioned to  create a large scale, functional, community art sculpture known as the “Flat Plat” - Yea Wetlands.
